Hearing is often considered to be the most vital of our five senses. It allows us to communicate and safely interact in our daily environment.

Hearing losses can be serious. Some of the potential dangers are: not hearing telephones, doorbells, security alarms, or smoke detectors. Many accidents are also caused by failure to hear warning signals.

Currently in the United States, an estimated 28 million people suffer from varying degrees of hearing impairment. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, hearing impairment is the third most common problem affecting the Baby Boom generation.
